It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Ijele 2026, the 99th Annual National Conference of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, holding from 2nd – 7th November 2026 at the International Convention Centre, Awka, Anambra State, in partnership with the Government of Anambra State under the leadership of His Excellency, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR.
We chose to call this gathering Ijele for a reason. In Igbo tradition, the Ijele is the king of masquerades a symbol of grandeur, excellence, leadership, and enduring impact. That is precisely the spirit in which we convene this year. Pharmacy in Nigeria is evolving into a profession that not only delivers healthcare services but also shapes policy, drives innovation, and contributes meaningfully to national development.
We come into Ijele 2026 on the strength of significant progress made over the past year. From advancing critical professional reforms and strengthening regulatory clarity to securing important welfare gains for pharmacists across the country, the achievements emerging from DABO 2025 have reinforced our collective determination to elevate pharmacy practice and healthcare delivery in Nigeria. Ijele 2026 provides an opportunity to consolidate these gains and chart an even more ambitious course for the future.
This conference carries a significance that extends beyond its programme. In March 2027, the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria will celebrate its Centenary one hundred years since its founding in 1927. Ijele 2026 therefore represents the final major gathering of our Society before this historic milestone. It is where we reflect on a century of service, celebrate our achievements, and prepare for the opportunities and responsibilities that lie ahead.
We are proud to bring this conference to Anambra State, a state renowned for its entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, rich cultural heritage, and commitment to development. We deeply appreciate the support and partnership of the Government and people of Anambra State in hosting this landmark gathering.
We expect to welcome close to 5,000 delegates, including pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, healthcare professionals, regulators, policymakers, researchers, development partners, and investors from across Nigeria and beyond. More than 300 manufacturers, importers, distributors, technology providers, and service organizations will also participate, making Ijele 2026 one of the largest professional healthcare gatherings in the West African sub-region.
Our theme for this year, “One Health, One Pharmacy: Bridging Knowledge, Practice and Policy for National Impact,” reflects the realities of an increasingly interconnected world. Through plenary sessions, scientific presentations, policy roundtables, exhibitions, and networking engagements, we shall explore practical pathways to strengthening medicines security, advancing pharmaceutical manufacturing, promoting regulatory excellence, embracing digital transformation, and building a future-ready workforce.
To every pharmacist joining us from across Nigeria, to our colleagues in the diaspora, and to our partners in government, academia, industry, and the wider healthcare community, I extend a warm and heartfelt welcome. On behalf of the National Executive Council and the entire PSN family, I wish you a rewarding, productive, and memorable conference experience.
I look forward to welcoming you personally to Awka for what promises to be a truly majestic gathering.
Together, let us carry Ijele forward with vision, unity, and impact.
Warm regards,
Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, FPSN
